We follow the River Urumea and arrive in Amara, the city's sports district. This is famous because it's home to the Real Sociedad Stadium, and so if you're keen on football, it's a good option for you. There's a fantastic atmosphere there before and after the game. Choose your bar and mingle with the people of Donostia, who never miss any of the Real's matches!

With my “cuadrilla” of lifelong friends, we usually start off at Bar Agustín. We simply love its prime pig cheek "carrillera"!

rom there we head towards the stadium, and our second call is at Bar Aukera, where we sit outside and order a Donostia classic: cod in "pil-pil" oil and garlic sauce.

We move ever closer to the stadium, and our last stop is in the bustling Avenida Isabel II, full of bars that have been there as far back as we can remember. We're spoilt for choice, but I go for the baby squid "txalupa" skewer and squid in tempura at Bar Txirrita.
